ШЕКСПИР Уильям (Shakespeare) (1564-1616), английский драматург, поэт. Между 1592 и 1600 им созданы (опубликованы в 1609) 154 сонета. Сюжетная их канва — отношения лирического героя с другом (1—126) и возлюбленной (127—152) — видимо, автобиографична, темы и мотивы типичны для ренессансной поэзии, однако более сложное восприятие жизни и человека в «Сонетах» уже обещает драматургию Шекспира.
